SUNSHIP
Sunship is the electronic music production vehicle of Ceri Evans, started in 1991. After winning a Mobo award for his debut Sunship album, Ceri went on to create his mark in the National charts Championing the ‘UK Garage’ sound. Sunship is still shining brightly, prolifically Remixing, Producing and Writing pushing Musical Boundaries into oblivion.
Sunship by Sunship was released in 1991 on the Acid Jazz label. This fusion of styles (Breakbeat/Jazz/House) was to become a trademark of the Sunship sound. From here, Ceri signed to the Dorado filter label, and began a string of single releases, and two album releases. Sunship tracks like Try Me Out and Cheque One two became huge hits on the Underground, along with the Sunship remix of ‘Friendly Pressure’ by Jhelisa, this led to a hugely prolific period of Remixes and Productions, some of which rocketed to Chart smashes.
The Sunship Mix of ‘Flowers’ by Sweet Female Attitude went in the Charts at Number 2, as did the Sunship Production of Misteeq’s ‘All I want’. Sunship Remixes were gracing Artists of eclectic calibre- Christina Aguilera, Texas, Craig David, Gabrielle, Morcheeba to name but a few. Sunship productions were also behind Lady Sovereign’s ‘Chi Ching’, and the brutally tough ‘Almighty Father’. In recent years, Sunship has remixed for Kelly Rowland, Jay Sean, Tinchy Stryder, Gabriella Cilmi, Macy Gray, and Cheryl Cole, getting some of these playlisted on National radio and MTV.
Forthcoming releases by Sunship include ‘Tell the Sun’ and ‘Breaking Me Apart’ ft the inimitableCharlotte Kelly, and hot female MC Lost Souljah with the awesome ‘Psycho’. Recent remixes include Club/Chart Hit ‘Alone Again’ by Alyssa Reid ft 3 Jump Smokers which reached Number 2 in the National Charts , ‘What a Feeling’ by Alex Gaudino ft Kelly Rowland, Level Up by Sway, 7 Nation Army by Marcus Collins and “Letter to My Ex’ by Tanya Lacey.
